Legora Seeks a $10B Valuation, Double March’s Price

The Swedish legal AI startup is raising again at more than $10 billion, months after closing at $5.6 billion. At roughly $100 million of ARR, that is about 100 times revenue — and Legora is still the cheaper of the two leaders.

Legora, the Stockholm legal AI company, is in talks to raise fresh capital at a valuation above $10 billion, the Financial Times reported. That would be roughly double the $5.6 billion the company was worth after its Series D closed in the spring — a round that itself tripled the previous mark. The talks are reported to involve a mix of new capital and secondary share sales, and no terms are final.

The revenue line explains the appetite, and also the vertigo. Legora crossed roughly $100 million in annual recurring revenue around April, up from about $50 million at the end of 2025 and roughly $3 million the year before that. That is a 33-fold increase in about 18 months. It is also the number that makes the arithmetic uncomfortable: at $10 billion, investors would be paying somewhere near 100 times current revenue.

Founded in 2023 and led by chief executive Max Junestrand, Legora sells software that sits inside a lawyer's existing workflow rather than replacing it — reviewing documents, running research across large databases, and drafting and editing contracts, with a Microsoft Word integration doing much of the day-to-day work. The company now reports more than 1,000 customers across roughly 50 markets, including White & Case, Linklaters and Barclays. Headcount went from about 40 to about 400 in a year, across offices in Stockholm, London, New York, Bangalore and Sydney, with Houston and Chicago planned.

Its cap table is a roll call of the current AI trade: Accel led the $550 million Series D, with Benchmark, ICONIQ, General Catalyst, Y Combinator, Nvidia Ventures, Atlassian, Salesforce Ventures and Barclays all on the register at various points. Junestrand has been pointed about where Legora sits relative to general-purpose assistants, arguing the company is not solving for the same use case as a chatbot that can answer a legal question.

Even at $10 billion, Legora would be the junior of the two leaders. US rival Harvey has raised at around $15.5 billion, and the two have spent 18 months leapfrogging each other on both valuation and revenue while chasing largely the same set of global firms. That competition, more than any single product milestone, is what keeps resetting the price: a lead investor who passes at $10 billion may be looking at $15 billion next spring.

There is a third party in this market that neither startup can price: the law firms themselves. Kirkland & Ellis committed $500 million to building its own legal AI stack rather than buying one, and the largest firms have both the document corpora and the margins to make that a real option. Legora's answer so far has been to become infrastructure — embedded in Word, embedded in the workflow, expensive to rip out.

Whether 100 times revenue survives contact with renewal season is the open question. Seat-based legal software has a long history of expanding fast and then flattening once every partner who wanted a licence has one. Legora's growth curve says it has not hit that wall yet. The valuation says investors are betting it will not hit it for a while.
