Discontinued. OpenAI closed the Sora app and website on April 26, 2026 and is removing the Sora 2 models and the Videos API on September 24, 2026, with no replacement listed (OpenAI Help Center and API deprecation notice, verified September 8, 2026). Sora 2 is not available inside ChatGPT Plus or Pro. Existing users can export their videos at sora.chatgpt.com/sunset before OpenAI deletes Sora data, and purchased Sora credits can be spent on Codex. While it lasted, Sora was OpenAI's video generation model: the original set a new bar in late 2024 for physics simulation, camera movement and cinematic style, and Sora 2 added synchronized dialogue and sound effects, Storyboards for narrative control, identity insertion and 25-second 1080p clips on the Pro tier.
